How To Improve Or Maintain Your Lifestyle

The main motivating factor people have coming into our office is to handle lifestyle limiting health challenges.  The key point in handling the health problem is to understand what types of care are available, and the degree each of these types of care can reduce or eliminate the health challenge.  To that end I would like to describe some of the details of the types of chiropractic care available at Chiropractic & Nutrition Wellness Center.

Our office and most chiropractors offer a continuum of care for patients in three phases  The first phase, “condition-based” care begins the process of reducing or eliminating pain, symptoms, or disease so that the patient can carry on their activities of daily living.  Although many patients come to chiropractic offices for pain relief, they soon learn that pain is typically a symptom of an underlying problem.

Many chronic diseases develop over a period of years before a person will experience any symptoms.  While relief of pain is an important benefit of chiropractic care, it is not a reliable indicator that the underlying problem has been corrected.  As patients progress through the “condition-based” care phase, they usually become relatively free of symptoms and obtain a certain degree of stabilization so that their original complaints do not immediately return.  After the “condition-based” care plan is complete, patients can move on to the “health enhancement” and “wellness” phases of care.

After “condition-based” care we perform a thorough progress exam to determine a patient’s readiness to move on to the “health enhancement” or “health” phase of chiropractic care. During the “health” phases of care, my main focus is to work with our practice members on Vertebral Subluxation Complex correction, which results in the restoration of proper mobility, function, soft tissue integrity, and posture of the spine.  Spinal misalignments, poor posture, and degeneration may have existed for years before a patient visits a chiropractor.

In this phase of care the progression of degeneration can be slowed or stopped, postural abnormalities addressed, and the additional benefits from optimizing function and health of the spine and nervous system become apparent to the practice member.  Some of these additional benefits include:

Makes you feel great

Corrects the cause rather than treats symptoms

Restores normal nerve supply

Improves immunity

Improves overall health

More energy

Improves athletic performance

Allows better sleep

Restores normal mobility

Improves posture

Counteracts the effects of gravity

More efficient body function

Slows or stops spinal degeneration

Improves spinal structure

Slows the aging process

Makes spinal disks healthier

Quicker recovery

Back to work faster

Usually prevents surgery

Often instant relief from pain

Completely safe

Affordable health care

Natural

Painless

No drugs

No needles

Relieves stress

Relieves tension

Relieves many symptoms

Prevents many health problems

The number of visits it takes to achieve subluxation reduction and optimal spinal function varies from individual to individual.  One of the reasons for this is that the cartilage located within our joints has “memory”, as do muscle, tendons, and ligaments.  The longer joints are “fixed”, or moving improperly, the longer it takes to stabilize the area.

If a person has had a long-standing misalignment, the joint cartilage and surrounding soft tissues adapt.  That is they begin to function as though the improper motion and positioning of the joints is normal.  This means that when an adjustment (correction) is made to the spine, the tissues surrounding the joint will take time to relearn proper function.

Retraining the soft tissues is an important part of obtaining spinal stabilization and subluxation correction.  It takes time.  If a patient has disc degeneration or other spinal degeneration present, this process can take longer still.  This is why it is so very important for people of all ages to have regular check-ups whether they are in pain or not.  In addition it is important to do the spinal exercises I have prescribed for you as they help retrain the soft tissues to more normal patterns of function.

What you choose to do about your health once pain is relieved is completely up to you.  Throughout the “condition-based” care, I will provide you with education and individualized recommendations for your spinal health and the integrity of your nervous system.

Many practice members under chiropractic care who initially came for pain relief, have realized that they can experience relief from other ailments as well.  It’s not uncommon to hear practice members report that chiropractic helped them with problems like asthma, stress, gastrointestinal disorders, attention deficits, PMS, infertility, headaches and so much more.  Why would his be the case?  This is the case because every nerve in the body conducts information through the spinal cord and exits through passageways created by the spinal bones.

By correcting subluxations in the spinal joints, nerve interference affecting the entire body, including the internal organs may also be reduced.  Practice members have found that not only has their pain resolved, but that their general quality of life has improved with chiropractic care.

Keeping oneself subluxation-free is a very important component in achieving optimal health and is the reason why we say chiropractic Adds Life To Years And Years To Life.  Take charge of your health.
