Karl Johnson, Director of the Chiropractic & Nutrition Wellness Center, announced
a high-tech, affordable approach to healthcare through the use of the most
advanced diagnostic equipment available to today’s chiropractor — the
powerful Insight
7000™ with surface
electromyography (SEMG), thermography, and computerized inclinometry.
Called the “Subluxation Station,” this state-of-the-art technology
will objectively detect areas of nerve disturbance, document and monitor
results, and help Dr. Johnson deliver the appropriate care. “Tests
administered by the Subluxation Station are
absolutely pain free,” said Johnson. He
added, “No needles, electric shock, or heat is used. The surface electromyography (SEMG) scan measures how well
the motor nerves are working by reading the amount of current found in the
muscles.” Subluxations
(misalignments) disturb the function of the nerve causing an abnormal amount of
electrical current flowing to the muscles (indicated by colors and/or abnormal
patters on the printout). The SEMG
scan also monitors muscle balance. Since
the vertebrae in the spine depend on the muscles to move properly,
muscle balance is extremely important.
When vertebrae are not in their normal position (misalignment), there is
an abnormal amount of electrical current in the muscles on either side of the
spine. As a result, muscles become
weaker or stronger, tighter, or fatigued.
The abnormal muscle pattern on the scan reveals an increased amount of
tension/pull on one side compared to the other. If the body temperature is 98.6 degrees, then the left and right sides of the spine should also be the same temperature. When the communication between the nervous system and the blood vessels is disturbed, it causes the body’s thermostat to malfunction producing an imbalanced temperature reading along the spine. These blood vessels are controlled by the same part of the Central Nervous System that runs the organs and glands, known as the autonomic system. The thermal scan provides information to monitor the autonomic system for proper function. When there is abnormal positioning of the vertebrae, it disturbs the nervous system and causes abnormal muscle function. This causes abnormal movement in the spine. A Digital Inclinometer is used to measure the spinal movement as compared to a normal reading. The longer the movement is restricted, the more irritation will occur causing increased degeneration. When the range of motion is restricted, ability to move is limited and causes stress on the parts involved. This process not only affects the problem areas, but left uncorrected will negatively affect the areas above and below — a domino effect.
“The body can be malfunctioning for months, even years, before one
experiences any symptoms, Johnson said. “Since
symptoms are always the last to show and the first to go, it is important to
monitor the function of the nervous system, which is why we utilize the Insight
Subluxation Station. ####
