Nature and Natural Healing

Getting out in nature is one of life’s great pleasures. Whether you hunt, fish, mountain climb, bicycle tour or watch birds, seeing the majestic forms nature made seems refreshing, fun and awe inspiring at the same time. Having an appreciation for your body, mind and spirit allows you the freedom to enjoy the great outdoors.

A well maintained fishing reel, rifle and boat motor allows you the freedom to enjoy your sporting activity. Remember to also maintain your wonderful body. There is nothing worse than being out in the back country and having a health challenge. Many sportsman and sportswomen hold on to the notion that they are healthy if they feel good. After all, that’s the party line touted by the traditional "health industry".

Traditional health care isn’t health care and health insurance isn’t health insurance. It is really sickness and accident insurance. Even HMO’s (Health Maintenance Organizations) are dubbed to be health insurance but the fact is they and other "managed care organizations" are just different ways for paying for medical services. The current system is geared toward treating symptoms and diseases not about prevention or even finding the cause.

True health care comes in the form of proactive activities and choices used to maintain the integrity of the body, mind and spirit regardless of if you feel good or bad. Chiropractic is a pioneering form of health care which aims to maintain the integrity of the nervous system.; the master control system of the body. When the spinal column or cranial or sacral bones are not functioning properly due to trauma, injury or stress (whether sudden or long term) the nervous system malfunctions. When the nervous system malfunctions, so do the parts of the body controlled or coordinated by that part of the nervous system. Take the example of Christopher Reeve. He has nerve damage in his neck and many parts of his body do not work now. His lungs and legs are fine - but the messages can’t reach these areas. The aim of chiropractic is to restore, as best as possible, the proper function to the spine and related structures to help reduce the resultant stress on the nervous system. This in turn allows for optimal expression of life through your body. Maintaining your boat’s motor oil and spark plugs before there is a problem is like maintaining your health through chiropractic to help you function at your peak.

There is no other health service like chiropractic. Massage, physical therapy and exercise do not accomplish the same task. Chiropractic’s aim is not to treat backaches, headaches or any other kind of ache or pain. But when someone is adjusted nerve irritation is reduced, joint and muscle and organ function improve and the natural result is the inner wisdom of the body is freed to the task of "curing what ails you". Now that’s something that you can’t buy in a bottle, but your friendly neighborhood chiropractor can provide this service for a reasonable fee.

Blessings in well-being,
