Should we look for nutritional and environmental causes? 2. Where do we begin? 3.How do we find solutions which are easy to stick with?" by Sidney MacDonald Baker, M.D.
If you've ever wondered why the latest fad diet doesn't work for you . . . well, there are lots of reasons, mostly the fact that it's a fad diet. But it could also be that you're the wrong blood type for the kinds of foods the diet recommends. Peter D'Adamo makes a persuasive argument that your blood type is an evolutionary marker that tells you which foods you'll process best, and which will be useless calories. He covers the entire range for each of the four blood types, from entrees to condiments and seasonings,
Diet schemes come and go. Successful plans, backed by powerful media machines, become bestsellers with sequels and food-product lines. But with so many diet books on the market, how do you decide which plan is right for you? According to Peter D'Adamo, the answer depends on your blood type. In his first book, Eat Right 4 Your Type, D'Adamo, a naturopathic physician and researcher, makes interesting and unique connections between human evolution, blood type, diet, exercise, and health. Now, in Cook Right 4 Your Type: The Practical Kitchen Companion to Eat Right 4 Your Type, D'Adamo provides readers with:
While D'Adamo's theories challenge common nutrition wisdom and his diet can be difficult to follow, Cook Right 4 Your Type will make his advice a little easier to swallow. --Ellen Albertson Donkin, Scott. One wouldn't expect a book on personalities to be as engaging, funny, and entertaining as Personality Plus. (Since it was written by a Popular Sanguine, I guess I shouldn't be surprised). I had a tremendous amount of fun reading this, taking the tests, analyzing my friends and family, and seeing how the Lord has made us perfect in His sight. The most invaluable information I gleaned from the text was why my son and I clash so often- we're both melancholies, and I see aspects of my personality that I struggle with in him. I now have the tools to work on my weaknesses, and my relationships with others. Thank you, Ms. Littauer, for such an insightful book! Mendelsohn, Robert. Finally, after 15 years of battling psoriasis there is hope and a cure. I've tried every topical, own my own light machines, and have even tried the dreaded oral medications. None of them worked much less made much of a difference. I have been treating the symptoms for 15 years. Thanks to Dr.Pagano, I am now treating the cause of my psoriasis . . . poor elimination. After only three weeks of following Dr. Pagano's diet and cleansing recommendations, I have noted a remarkable improvement. I know I will be spot free soon. Chances are your dermatologist will be less than supportive and will spout the "there's no medical evidence" that diet has anything to do with psoriasis, and you will be discouraged when your dermatologist states there is no cure as psoriasis is in your genes. However, the medical field has no evidence that it is your genes, either (ask your dermatologist if the gene has been identified--it hasn't). They've decided it is in our genes because psoriasis runs in families. It runs in families because family is where you learn your eating and toilet habits. Let your dermatologist continue to treat your symptoms while you take control of healing the cause--poor elimination. Dr. Pagano gives you the information and tools necessary to correct your diet and begin proper elimination. You will be overjoyed.

New York: Prestige Publishing, 1990.
Longtime chiropractic promoter and practitioner Rondberg pitches this guidebook to the general public. He tells us about D. D. and B. J. Palmer, father and son, who discovered and built chiropractic, then outlines chiropractic principles and activities. Vertebral subluxation (misalignment of vertebrae), now usually called nerve interference, is, chiropractic maintains, the cause of most human ills. Chiropractors use X rays to identify this problem and correct it by adjustment (often called manipulation by laypersons). The body's innate intelligence is said to be its ruling force, and chiropractors assist its full use. Children, middle-aged, and elderly alike can benefit from chiropractic, which deserves a high place in health care because it concentrates on causes rather than effects or symptoms and is not expensive. There have been segments in our society that have enormous power and will stop at nothing to gain control. This book is a chilling description of an out of control medical system that assumed that they had all knowledge concerning healthcare. The real fight was about nothing other than penetration into their sacred economic turf. Chiropractic was almost destroyed if it wasn't for the absolute courage of several dedicated chiropractic physicians and an attorney who fought against all odds to prove that organized medicine used a campaign of misinformation and slander to attempt to destroy the chiropractic profession. Fortunately, many today have accepted chiropractic based on merit and effectiveness as a healing art. Many medical doctors today have accepted chiropractic based on scientific evidence and studies published in many of their journals concerning chiropractic's efficacy. This is an absolute must read!!!! Wilson, James L., N.D., D.C., Ph.D. Adrenal Fatigue, The 21st Century Syndrome. California, Smart Publications, 2001.
The book
opens with an overview of the function of the adrenals, and how they are prone
to chronic fatigue given our hyper-stressed contemporary lifestyles. This is
followed by a section on how to tell if you have adrenal fatigue, which includes
a questionnaire, several simple at-home diagnostic tests that you can perform
yourself, as well as thorough information on the availability (and usefulness)
of different laboratory tests. The heart and soul of Wilson's book (and where
you get a sense of this doctor's caring 'bedside manner') is the lengthy section
on the treatment of adrenal dysfunction, 'Helping Yourself Back to Health.' This
is the good news section. It includes detailed information and sage advice on
multiple strategies for treatment, such as lifestyle, food, food allergies and
sensitivities, dietary supplements, adrenal cell extracts, and replacement
hormones. This section concludes with a suggested daily program for adrenal
recovery, advice on what to expect on your road back to adrenal health, a very
helpful list of questions and answers, and even a trouble-shooting guide if you
discover that you still need help. The final section of the book is the most
scientific; it details the functions of the adrenal glands. This section (as
well as the entire book) is supported by helpful and often entertaining
illustrations.

This yoga set is perfect for those with busy schedules who need to work in a way to relax. On the a.m. tape, Rodney Yee takes you through a 15-minute morning yoga set, while Patricia Walden leads a 20-minute evening routine on the p.m. tape. The a.m. tape was filmed on a beach in Maui at sunrise, providing a soothing background for this gentle workout. In the morning, Rodney tells us, "the body is rested but stiff from inactivity." The stretches he demonstrates are designed to increase circulation, improve mobility, and bring clarity to your mind. The movements are easy to follow (they include a conscious relaxation, the a.m. workout, and a guided meditation), and the set is short enough that it can be squeezed into the most hectic of morning schedules. The p.m. video was filmed at sunset in Death Valley. Patricia's yoga set is designed to quiet the mind after the stress of the day and to help you make the transition from active to quiet. She uses a combination of a centering series, standing poses, forward bends, and restorative poses to help you ease into night. You will need some firm blankets to sit on and a yoga strap (although a belt or scarf will serve the same purpose) to perform these movements. Perfect for the beginner and for the overworked. --Jenny Brown
